I offer Dialectic Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is a therapeutic approach that aims to help individuals with emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, and acceptance of conflicting thoughts and emotions.
DBT incorporates mindfulness techniques aimed at cultivating awareness and nonjudgmental observation. DBT empowers individuals to manage intense emotions, build healthier relationships, and enhance overall well-being through skilful coping strategies
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy approach designed to alleviate distress associated with traumatic memories.
EMDR involves bilateral stimulation, often through eye movements, to help process traumatic experiences. This therapeutic technique aids in reprocessing distressing memories, reducing their emotional impact.
EMDR is effective in treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and various psychological conditions. By fostering adaptive information processing, EMDR enables clients to integrate distressing memories more healthily, leading to symptom relief and improved mental well-being. This evidence-based therapy has gained widespread recognition for its efficacy in trauma-focused treatment.
Schema Therapy is a longer-term therapeutic process. In Schema Therapy, we address unmet childhood needs and how they are presented in adulthood. The focus is on learning how to identify, express and cope effectively with psychological needs in a healthy way.
Schema Therapy involves cognitive, emotional and behavioural interventions. Read more about Schema Couples Therapy here.
Psychological assessments involve at least two assessment appointments as well as a review of past reports and relevant documentation. Documentation reviews and the compiling of reports are billed separately. I offer the following psychological assessments and reports.
Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects cognitive, sensory, and social processing, changing the way people see the world and interact with others.
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterised by excessive amounts of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity that are pervasive leading to impairment in multiple contexts.
Post-traumatic stress disorder is a mental and behavioural disorder that develops from experiencing a traumatic event.
Personality disorders involve persistent, rigid patterns of behaviour, cognition, and inner experience deviating markedly from cultural norms, causing distress and impairment.
